Photography Workshops & Private Photo Tours

Led by local professional wildlife and landscape photographers

Working with local professional wildlife photographers, we offer several multi-day photography workshops and private single-day tours designed for all experience levels. Workshops and day tours focus on capturing wildlife and the landscape they inhabit as their lives play out over Yellowstone’s seasons. Your instructor will work with you to maximize camera settings, composition, lighting opportunities, and understanding animal behavior to create pictures that tell the compelling story of life in the wild.

MULTI-DAY WORKSHOPS & PRIVATE DAY TOURS

Learn more about Yellowstone's incredible wildlife and landscape photography opportunities!

Yellowstone National Park is divided into two distinct and visually stunning regions: the wildlife-rich Northern Range and the geothermal wonders of the Yellowstone Caldera, referred to as the “interior”.  Our workshops explores both, with multiple days devoted to photographing iconic species like bison, elk, moose, bighorn sheep, foxes, coyotes, eagles, and possibly wolves along the Northern Range’s scenic roads, as well as unforgettable snowcoach (winter) or van (spring) adventures into the interior to capture geysers, hot springs, waterfalls, and wildlife. With small groups of like-minded travelers, private transportation, and extended time in the field, you’ll enjoy exceptional opportunities for wildlife and landscape photography while discovering the art of visual storytelling in the world’s first national park.

Kyle's knowledge FAR exceeded what we expected!

My wife Barbara and I had an absolutely amazing and memorable day during our private tour with Kyle Moon. We were very fortune to see so many firsts and potentially once in a lifetime events unfold all as a result of Kyle's extensive knowledge of Yellowstone and wildlife behaviour. Kyle's knowledge FAR exceeded what we expected and has set the bar very high for future wildlife photography guides. Barbara is not a photographer, but does love wildlife. As such, Kyle took the time to ensure she too had a great experience...and she did! I learned valuable tips on photo composition and wildlife behaviour... We learned so much about the animals we saw and photographed that our experience was both exciting and educational. Our day was catered to our needs and goals, and also adaptable to happenings in the park. We ended our day with many great lessons and memories we will have forever. Thank you Kyle!

I would definitely...use Yellowstone Wild again

Rob was our guide for one week in January 2024. We had the most amazing sighting of wolves, even he was emotionally moved by the experience. He is zealous about wildlife and provided us great viewing opportunities. He is also quite attentive at all times, keeping us fed and hydrated. I would definitely want to use Yellowstone Wild again if I return.

Yellowstone Wild January Photography Tour with Guide Evan Watts is the Best Photo Tour in the Lower 48!

Guide Evan Watts used his experience working and photographing in Yellowstone to maximize our opportunities on the Northern Range and the interior of the park. The wonderful powdery snow provided a beautiful contrasting background for large bull moose, icy bison, mousing foxes, rams, coyotes, river otters, bald eagles, majestic bull elk and more. This doesn't even cover the landscapes and beautiful light. And then, there were the huckleberry scones and hot chocolate for the midmorning warmup! This trip is a blur of awesomeness. Thanks, Evan!

I cannot recommend Yellowstone Wild and Kyle Moon highly enough

Kyle Moon did an incredible job guiding our group to a variety of wildlife hotspots, and it truly paid off. We hiked out to capture unique angles of moose and trekked uphill for better views of bighorn rams. Throughout it all, Kyle educated us on animal behavior and made sure every moment was handled ethically and safely — both for the group and the wildlife. Kyle provided excellent instruction on positioning, timing, and technique to help us capture amazing shots. He consistently coached us on composition, shared examples from his own camera, and called out helpful settings — shutter speed, ISO, and more — that gave us great reference points in the field. Overall, I cannot recommend Yellowstone Wild and Kyle Moon highly enough. If you’re looking for an unforgettable experience and memories that will last a lifetime, this is it.

Fantastic experience: Evan Watts and Yellowstone Wild

Just returned from a winter photo group workshop with Evan Watts and Yellowstone Wild Tours. Yellowstone delivered an awesome time! Evan is a superior tour guide! He is extremely knowledgeable about the park and wildlife behavior. He found us the best locations for capturing the best photos. His photo instruction was outstanding. The entire trip and the group I joined up with was one of the best I've ever experienced. Highly recommended!!!!

This is the best photography workshop I've ever been on

I joined a small group guided by Kyle Moon for a winter photography workshop in Yellowstone. This was way more than a stand on the side of the road and take photos of wildlife trip. This was an immersive experience. Kyle has an innate ability to read the body language of animals, and anticipate how they will behave next, which allows you to move around (at a safe distance), lay on the ground, whatever it takes, to get THE BEST possible images . THIS is the best photography workshop I've ever been on. Thank you so much, Kyle!

Ask for Evan! Best Guide!

Evan was a great guide thinking of everything. Always ensuring the temperature was right for us in the SUV, asked what we wanted to see the most and set out to make that happen. We said “Moose” and boy or boy did he deliver. We counted seeing 15 moose in that one 8 hour period including a Bull Moose not far from the road. Amazing! We got to experience a Bison jam and take many photos of the Bison. Evan gave great tips on manual camera settings and how to best line up the shot. We saw coyote, elk, female big horn sheep , mule deer and a pigmy owl. He was able to show us a big group of big horn sheep and mountain goats on his scope and coyotes running along a stream in the far distance. Had a great picnic lunch in the perfect spot. Evan gave a great mix of history of Yellowstone, wildlife information We learned a lot and had an amazing time. Hope to come back in the Spring and will certainly ask for Evan.

I cannot say enough about Rob and Yellowstone Wild!

My partner and I had the pleasure of being guided by Rob for 2 days for private winter wildlife photography tours. I cannot say enough about Rob and Yellowstone Wild. I chose Yellowstone Wild because I was impressed with how much their site highlighted an ethical approach to viewing and experiencing nature. Rob was prompt, helpful, and knowledgeable about all the specific locations, habitats and recent sightings in Yellowstone. If you are lucky enough to be guided by Rob you will learn so much from him about all aspects of Yellowstone history, wildlife, and ecology. You will learn about local researchers, photographers, filmmakers and writers to look up when you leave. He’s also an amazing photographer with so much to offer in guidance and feedback.
